Welcome to Federation's Women's Department

Follow your heart.

It will lead you to our door. Serving as a vital link between Jewish family life and community life, Federation’s Women’s Department is committed to welcoming and empowering women of all ages and stages of life.

As one of the most trusted and effective philanthropic organizations in the world, we work to deliver help to those in need and to fulfill the dreams of a vibrant Jewish community, here at home in Detroit, in Israel and around the world.

With the primary goal of raising a significant share of Federation’s total annual funding, we seek to identify and promote women as fundraisers, advocates, volunteers, leaders and active participants in their community in their own right. We also provide a year-round calendar of educational, social, and networking opportunities related to community human service needs.

The Women’s Department of the Jewish Federation invites you to join us and discover how YOU can be part of what’s happening. In any capacity in which you choose to participate, you will feel GREAT about being involved and in making a difference in the world.

Our Mission

The Women’s Department of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit connects and involves women throughout the community in the work of Federation. Women’s Department plays a key role in raising funds for the Jewish Federation to meet Jewish needs locally, in Israel, and around the world. Through educational programming, multiple volunteer opportunities and fundraising initiatives, the Women’s Department empowers women, strengthens Jewish identity and promotes the values of Tzedakah (justice, often embodied as acts of charity) and Tikkun Olam (repairing the world).
