photo: Dr. Lou Anna K. SimonLou Anna K. Simon, Ph.D., president of Michigan State University, has a long history spanning more than three decades at MSU. She began in 1970 as a graduate student, earning her doctorate in 1974. She then became a member of the MSU faculty and assistant director of the Office of Institutional Research. Simon served as provost and vice president for academic affairs from 1993 to 2004. She ran the university during 2003 as interim president while then president McPherson helped rebuild Iraq’s economy. In January 2005 she became the first female CEO in the university’s history.
