
Supportive Communities is an exciting new program
to help older adults "age in place" and strengthen the neighborhoods
in which they live. The program serves the Southfield and Oak Park neighborhood
between Lincoln Street and Ten Mile Road, Greenfield Road and Church
Street. It is a collaboration of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan
Detroit's ElderLink Network of Services and neighborhood partners, including
community businesses, organizations, religious congregations, homeowners,
building associations and local municipalities.
What are Supportive Communities' goals?
- Assist older adults to live independently in their homes
- Promote physical and emotional well-being
- Reduce isolation
- Foster relationships between non-senior community residents and older
adults
- Involve senior residents in their communities

- Social work services to assist with planning and connecting residents
with services and resources

- Volunteer opportunities

Supportive Communities is a non-sectarian program open
to all older adults living in the project's boundaries. Services are
available regardless of race, color, sex, religious affiliation, disabling
condition or national origin.
Some services have a cost and are provided based on ability
to pay.
