Jewish Travel Programs
Provided by: Jewish Community Center Trips are offered to destinations in the United States, Europe, Far East and Middle East. Day trips are planned for older adults, as well as summer programs at the Butzel Conference Center.
Memory Club
Provided by: JVS The Memory Club helps participants learn new practical techniques to sharpen memory skills and maintain the ability to live an active, independent life in the community. It also provides an opportunity to make new friends and to have fun. The Club meets twice a week in four-hour sessions at JVS in Southfield. In addition to classroom sessions, the Memory Club provides members meaningful and enjoyable activities at both the program’s site and out in the community.
Senior Adult Activities
Provided by: Jewish Community Center The Jewish Community Center’s Jimmy Prentis Morris Building in Oak Park and D. Dan and Betty Kahn Building in West Bloomfield provide a number of recreational, social, educational and physical fitness activities for members and non-members. These include: Institute for Retired Professionals Retired and semi-retired individuals, who are committed to learning and seeking opportunities to share their expertise and experiences with their peers, participate in a variety of study groups. A full program of lectures, trips, lunch and learns and social events is also offered.
Senior Adult Socialization/Education/Physical Fitness
Provided by: Jewish Community Center Many day and evening cultural, educational and recreational programs are offered at both JCC campuses. In addition, the Oak Park campus offers a full-day program, transportation and a kosher nutrition site. Both JCC facilities have extensive athletic programs of varying intensity to meet the diverse physical capabilities and interests of the older adult population.
