The heart of the neighborhood and home address of Detroit’s Jewish community, providing social, recreational, educational and cultural programs and activities appealing to all ages and interests. Detroit’s JCC operates two facilities: in Oak Park on the A. Alfred Taubman Jewish Community Campus and in West Bloomfield on the Eugene & Marcia Applebaum Jewish Community Campus.

- Jewish Community Center Volunteer Opportunities
- The JCC offers numerous volunteer opportunities in all its departments.
- Jewish Travel Programs
- Trips are offered to destinations in the United States, Europe, Far East and Middle East. Day trips are planned for older adults, as well as summer programs at the Butzel Conference Center.
- New American Acculturation
- An extensive program of services is designed especially for older adult immigrants. Located at the Jimmy Prentis Morris Building on the A. Alfred Taubman Jewish Community Campus in Oak Park, the program includes a bilingual translator and a full array of social, cultural, physical fitness and educational activities. A major emphasis is placed on programming with Jewish content as well as celebrations. Assistance is provided with learning about and accessing community and governmental services and benefits. Space is provided for English as a second language and citizenship classes.
- Senior Adult Activities
- The Jewish Community Center’s Jimmy Prentis Morris Building in Oak Park and D. Dan and Betty Kahn Building in West Bloomfield provide a number of recreational, social, educational and physical fitness activities for members and non-members. These include:
Institute for Retired Professionals Retired and semi-retired individuals, who are committed to learning and seeking opportunities to share their expertise and experiences with their peers, participate in a variety of study groups. A full program of lectures, trips, lunch and learns and social events is also offered.
- Senior Adult Socialization/Education/Physical Fitness
- Many day and evening cultural, educational and recreational programs are offered at both JCC campuses. In addition, the Oak Park campus offers a full-day program, transportation and a kosher nutrition site. Both JCC facilities have extensive athletic programs of varying intensity to meet the diverse physical capabilities and interests of the older adult population.
