2008 Grant Guidelines And Application

The Jewish Women's Foundation of Metropolitan Detroit (JWF) is currently accepting Letters of Intent for its 2008 grant cycle. To apply for a 2008 JWF grant, please review the following JWF grant guidelines and timeline, then download and submit the 2008 Letter of Intent.

Eligibility

  • We fund with a "gender lens" and a "Jewish lens". We are interested in projects that benefit Jewish women and girls. We seek projects that address the root causes of challenges to them and their families and that promote social change. Projects with an advocacy component are valued.
  • We fund only organizations with their own IRS 501(c)(3) tax status or with a fiscal agent who is a 501(c)(3). Legal opinion letters of non-profit status are not sufficient.
  • In 2008, we will consider grant requests for programs, projects or initiatives in the State of Michigan or by invitation.
  • We will consider grant requests for amounts up to $20,000 in 2008. Grant applicants requesting $5,000 or less will be invited to complete a simplified Final Grant Application.
  • Although there is no predetermined number of grants, at least one grant will be made each year.
  • We consider projects for funding on a year-to-year basis. Previous funding does not guarantee continuous funding, nor does it disqualify future funding.
  • We consider a requesting organization's overall inclusion of women and girls in the projects or programs for which the grants are sought. This includes the extent to which Jewish women and girls are included among leadership, on boards and advisory committees, and in key staff positions.
  • We value and encourage collaborative efforts among organizations requesting funds for projects.
  • We do not award grants to individuals, make individual loans, provide individual scholarships or award tuition reimbursements.
  • We do not fund political campaigns, political organizations or PAC's.
  • We do not purchase tickets/tables for special events.
  • We do not participate in capital campaigns.

Application and Grants Process

The JWF cannot support all eligible projects and only accepts Letters of Intent outlining fully planned projects. Please take the time to review the JWF Guidelines thoroughly to determine if your organization, program, project or initiative meets the JWF's criteria. We encourage grant seekers to call or email our staff to discuss the appropriateness of requests prior to submitting Letters of Intent. All Letters of Intent must be submitted on time and must include the information requested in the Letter of Intent instructions. If your organization is awarded a grant, the pay-out schedule will be determined by need. The JWF will require mid-term and final reports and evaluations.
